Liner Notes is a diary that continues even when you don't write. From the traces of your day — places, photos, sleep, steps, plans — AI quietly prepares a draft of your diary. All of it is stored on your device alone, and the developer never collects it. Our aim is to sit beside your days, quietly and honestly.
The app works fine without it. A declined permission simply means that material isn't used in your drafts.
For example, without location access your places aren't recorded, but drafts are still built from photos, plans, and the rest. Decline everything and it still works as a hand-written diary. You can change any permission later in the Settings app.
On the free plan, the AI runs on your device. In that case, your data never leaves it.
Pro (the subscription) uses an external AI service for more natural writing. When generating drafts, questions, and weekly letters, text related to your diary is sent off the device. However, that text is never used to train AI and is never stored by the developer. Authentication uses only your App Store purchase, so your name and account are never shared with the external AI. Nothing beyond diary text — no photos themselves, no raw health data — is ever sent.

Entirely on your iPhone. The developer (Aves Inc.) never stores your diary or reads its contents.

Because data is stored only on the device, before switching, export your diary from the Settings tab (Markdown) and move the file to your new device via the Files app or AirDrop.
There is currently no import feature that reads the exported file back into the app on a new device. Please keep the exported Markdown file as the archive of your diary so far.
Subscriptions run through Apple (the App Store), so cancellation happens in Apple's settings.
After canceling, Pro remains available until the end of the current billing period. Your diary data stays on your device after cancellation.
Family Mode is a Pro feature that turns table conversation into the family's diary.
Audio never leaves the device. And with Apple Family Sharing turned on, one subscription covers the whole family.
