Liner Notes has no accounts. What you record stays on your iPhone.
Your diary, automatic records, conversation records, and voice and face features are stored on your iPhone. The developer (Aves Inc.) has no system for storing the content of your diary or conversations on its servers. To write text or create pictures, the app may send the text it needs to the route you choose (Apple's Private Cloud Compute, or OpenAI). Sections 4 and 5 describe exactly what is sent and when.
This page describes, as concretely as we can, what the app handles and where. By starting to use the app, you agree to this policy.
The following is stored on your iPhone:
Deleting the app removes these from your iPhone. If you made a copy (Section 6), you can restore from it.
Every permission is optional. Anything you don't allow simply isn't used, and the app still works.
We use iOS visit detection to record where you spent time each day. It does not track your route continuously. Place names are looked up with Apple's services. To show the day's weather, your location is passed to Apple's weather service (WeatherKit).
Photos taken that day are added to your diary, and objects, text and people in them are recognized on your iPhone (Apple Vision). Photos themselves are never sent off your iPhone. Photos stored in iCloud Photos may be downloaded from Apple for display.
We read sleep, steps, exercise and workouts, active and dietary energy, time in daylight, mindful minutes, resting heart rate, heart rate, and heart rate variability (SDNN and RMSSD) to build the day's record and to show when your body was tense or relaxed. When you record a conversation on Apple Watch, the app uses a workout session to keep recording, but it never saves a workout. HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing, or shared with third parties.
Event titles, times, and attendee names are used as material for your record. The app writes an event only when you choose to add one.
Used when you speak a diary entry or note, or record a conversation. Speech is converted to text on your iPhone (Section 3).
Songs you listened to are added to your record, and songs are picked from your library's patterns. To look up song details, the song title and artist may be sent to Apple's search service.
The speech models are downloaded from Hugging Face (a model distribution service) the first time you use them. None of your records are sent in that request.
In Settings → AI route, you choose where text and pictures are created:
For drafting and polishing your diary, the morning note, diaries from notes, conversation summaries and speaker guesses, and song picks, the text needed is sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute. This includes diary and note text, conversation transcripts, and a summary of the day's record (weather; numbers such as sleep, steps and resting heart rate; event titles and attendee names; place names; and notes about photo content). According to Apple, data sent to Private Cloud Compute is used only to fulfill the request, is not stored, and is not accessible even to Apple.
OpenAI is used only after you agree in the app, and only while you subscribe or during the Premium Preview (your first 3 mornings, up to 7 days, no card required, no automatic charge). You can turn it off anytime in Settings → AI route.
The app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-collection tools. We don't measure your usage or share it with others.
Purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple (App Store). Payment details are managed by Apple; we never receive them. Only App Store purchase information is used to verify a subscription.
The app is rated 4+. We comply with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and related laws and guidelines, and respect the privacy laws that apply in each country and region where the app is offered.
We may update this policy as features are added or laws change. We'll announce important changes in the app or on this page. Continuing to use the app after an update means you agree to the updated policy.
