Liner Notes keeps your diary on your device — and nowhere else.
Your diary text, and the passive data around it — location, photos, sleep, steps — are all stored on your iPhone. The developer (Aves Inc.) has no mechanism to store or collect this data, so we do not collect it. (For how diary text is handled when the cloud features of Pro or the Premium Preview send it to an external AI, see Section 3.)
This page explains how that works, and the few exceptions, in the plainest words we can manage. By starting to use the app, you are deemed to have agreed to this policy.
Liner Notes collects none of the following.
Your data is stored on your device, and the developer has no mechanism for storing or collecting it. "We don't collect it" is not just a policy — it is how the app is built.
With your permission, the app reads the following information on your device only. In every case, the purpose is to prepare your diary draft automatically.
On the free plan, AI drafts are generated on-device. In that case, none of the data above ever leaves your device. Pro (the subscription) uses an external AI for more natural writing, and during the Premium Preview (your first 3 mornings, up to 7 days, no card required) an external AI is used to create "The Day's Picture" (see the next section).
Every permission is optional. If you decline one, that material simply isn't used — the app works fine without it.
On the free plan — outside Pro and the Premium Preview — diary generation happens entirely on your device, with no external communication.
If you subscribe to Pro, then when generating drafts, questions, weekly letters, and similar content, when organizing memory (judging whether two topics mentioned in your diary are the same) — and during the Premium Preview (your first 3 mornings, up to 7 days, no card required, no auto-billing), when generating "The Day's Picture" — text related to your diary is sent to an external AI service. About this communication, we promise the following.
The cloud features of Pro and the Premium Preview use an external AI (OpenAI) — but nothing is sent without your prior consent, what is sent is never used for training, is not stored by the developer, and is transmitted only after anonymization. OpenAI provides equivalent data protection for API traffic (no training use, limited retention).
Data read from HealthKit is used solely to generate your diary drafts. In accordance with Apple's HealthKit terms, it is never provided to third parties, never used for advertising or marketing, and never repurposed.
Location is used to record where you stayed during the day, via iOS visit detection (CLVisit). It does not continuously track your movements. The app works without this permission.
Photos are read only to accompany your diary. Your photo library is never transmitted off the device.
Liner Notes contains no analytics tools, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking mechanisms of any kind. We do not measure your usage or share it with anyone.
All purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment details such as credit card numbers are handled by Apple, and the developer never receives or holds your payment information.
The app is rated 4+. We comply with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and its related laws and guidelines, and we honor applicable privacy laws in the regions where the app is offered.
This policy may be revised as features are added or laws change. If we make a significant change, we will announce it in the app or on this page. The latest version is always available here. If you continue to use the app after a revision, you are deemed to have agreed to the revised policy.
